Safari Overview

Mikumi National Park is located in eastern Tanzania, about 283 kilometers from Dar es Salaam. It is the fourth largest national park in Tanzania and offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities, with landscapes often compared to the Serengeti.

The park is home to elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and more. The open horizons make wildlife spotting easy — you can often see four of the Big Five in a single day.

3-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Dar es Salaam to Mikumi

Early morning pickup from your hotel in Dar. Drive to Mikumi (5-6 hours) with a stop at the Mkata Floodplain viewpoint. Afternoon game drive. Overnight at a tented lodge.

Day 2

Full Day Game Drive

Sunrise game drive to see predators returning to their kills. Continue exploring different habitats. Picnic lunch in the park. Afternoon game drive. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3

Return to Dar es Salaam

Morning game drive. Drive back to Dar es Salaam, or transfer to a flight for Zanzibar extension.
