Safari Overview

Tarangire National Park is located in Tanzania's Manyara Region and is named after the Tarangire River, which flows through the park. This river serves as the primary source of fresh water for wildlife, drawing thousands of animals — especially during the dry season (June – October).

The park is famous for its enormous elephant herds (often 300+ at a time), dramatic landscapes of ancient baobab trees, and tree-climbing pythons. Tarangire is a hidden gem that offers an authentic, less-crowded safari experience.

3-Day Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire

Drive from Arusha (2 hours). Full day game drive among baobab-studded landscapes and the Tarangire River. Overnight at a safari lodge.

Day 2

Full Day Tarangire Game Drive

Sunrise and sunset game drives to spot predators. Picnic lunch in the park. Search for tree-climbing pythons in the sausage trees. Overnight at the lodge.

Day 3

Tarangire to Arusha

Morning game drive. Continue to Lake Manyara (optional) or return to Arusha. Fly to Zanzibar or extend your safari.
