Jozani Forest is located approximately 35 kilometers southeast of Zanzibar Town and spans an area of around 1,000 hectares. It stands as the last remaining natural forest on Unguja Island, making it a truly unique and irreplaceable ecological treasure.
This ancient forest is home to the endemic and endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey — a species found nowhere else on Earth. With around 1,000 individuals living in small family groups, these friendly primates have lost their fear of humans, allowing for unforgettable close encounters.
What to Expect
Your guided walk begins at the forest entrance where an experienced local guide will lead you along well-maintained boardwalks and nature trails. As you wander beneath towering mahogany trees, fig trees, and palms, you'll discover a thriving ecosystem of flora and fauna.

Itinerary
Hotel Pickup & Forest Walk
Pickup from your hotel at 8:30 AM. Drive to Jozani Forest (about 45 minutes). Begin guided nature walk through the forest, encountering the Red Colobus monkeys. Continue along the mangrove boardwalk. Tour concludes around 12:00 PM with drop-off at your hotel.
